During the opening minute of Grey’s Anatomy, Season 6, Episode 1, entitled Good Mourning, Izzie Stevens survives her Code Red crash but George does not.
Now everyone must cope with the fact that he’s gone and Alex must find a way to tell Izzie.
It turns out that George is an organ donor and the doctors work through their grief and their own reluctance to help the transplant doctors while prepping his organs for various patients and hospitals.
An insider has revealed that the audience sees all of the organs being pulled out of George’s body and, “it’s one of the goriest scenes they’ve ever done.”
