At the beginning of Ghost Whisperer season 5, episode 2 entitled “See No Evil,” the show takes place over at Ned’s campus.
He is making out with a girl named Brianna, and a disturbance leads them to make a horrifying discovery. Both of them know about Melinda’s gift and, instead of calling the police, call Melinda instead.
Ned and Brianna think it’s the work of one of Brianna’s friends, the recently deceased Gwen Collier, who is causing the spooky mayhem.
After Brianna told Gwen’s boyfriend that she made out with another guy, Gwen blamed Brianna for her boyfriend dumping her which led to a big blow-up between them. They didn’t reconcile before Gwen was killed.
Gwen died while trying to help her mother, who was critically injured in a traffic accident.
Gwen’s mother, Paula, now lies in a coma and, not realizing her mother is suffering from a malignant brain tumor, blames herself for the accident.
Before she died, she had received an email that said if it wasn’t forwarded before the day was over, she or someone she loved would suffer a tragic fate and also not to delete the email or bad things would continue happening.
Gwen had deleted the email.
The ghostly Gwen is now trying to “save” others from becoming the email’s next tragic victim and terrorizes those that don’t comply with the email.
Brianna received this email from Gwen’s email address a few days after Gwen died and is convinced that this is Gwen’s way of a “payback” for their big fight.
With Paula’s condition finally revealed, Melinda can convince Gwen that ignoring the email was not the cause of the accident.
When Paula dies, she and her daughter are reunited and go into the light together.
